The short answer
Black Friday (November 27, 2026) can be a good time to buy an e-bike, but only if you pick the right type of bike first and check the price history of the exact listing before you buy. The models worth watching are established bikes from brands with US support: the Aventon Level 4 ADV and Heybike Cityscape 2.0 for commuting, the Lectric XP4 750 and Jasion EB7 2.0 if you need a folder, and the Heybike Mars 2.0 for fat-tire, all-terrain riding. We do not list sale prices because they change constantly; this guide shows you how to tell a real deal from a dressed-up list price.
Our top picks
- Best commuter to watch: Aventon Level 4 ADV — a refined commuter from a brand with a US dealer and service network. Check price on Amazon

Step 1: Pick the type of bike before you look at any deal
The biggest Black Friday mistake is buying the wrong kind of e-bike because the discount looked big. Decide on the job first:
- Commuting and errands on pavement: a full-size commuter with fenders, a rack and lights, such as the Level 4 ADV or Cityscape 2.0. Our commuter e-bike guide goes deeper.
- Small apartment, RV or car trunk: a folding bike like the XP4 750 or EB7 2.0. Expect a heavier fold than a non-electric folder; check the listed weight against what you can lift.
- Sand, snow, gravel or a heavier rider: a fat-tire bike like the Mars 2.0. The wide tires add comfort and grip but also weight and drag.
- Trails: a mid-drive electric mountain bike like the Ramblas ADV. Check that e-bikes are allowed on the trails you plan to ride.
- Kids, groceries or a second car: a cargo e-bike, which is usually a bigger and more expensive purchase that deserves its own research.
Step 2: How to spot a real e-bike deal
Check the price history, not the “was” price
A strikethrough list price tells you very little. Use a price tracker such as camelcamelcamel or Keepa to see what the exact listing sold for over the past few months. A real deal is at or below its recent lows, not just below an inflated list price. E-bike brands also run their own promotions through the fall, so a “Black Friday” price may have been available in October.
Compare the exact model and year
E-bike names get reused. The Heybike Mars 2.0 has been sold with different motor and battery ratings over time, and several Cityscape 2.0 listings exist. Read the battery capacity in watt-hours (Wh), the motor rating and the listed top speed on the specific listing you are buying. Last year’s version at a lower price can be a good buy, but only if you know what changed.
Read the battery spec in watt-hours
Watt-hours (volts x amp-hours) are the honest measure of how much energy a battery holds. A 624Wh pack holds about a third more than a 468Wh pack. Range claims (“up to 50 miles”, “85 miles”) are measured under ideal conditions, usually at low assist on flat ground; real-world range with throttle use and hills is often much lower.
Look for UL 2849 certification
UL 2849 covers the e-bike’s whole electrical system: battery, charger and motor controller. Cities including New York require it for e-bikes sold there, and it is a sensible baseline anywhere you will charge a battery indoors. Several picks above, including the Mars 2.0, list UL 2849 certification. A deep discount on an uncertified bike is not a deal.
Check the class and top speed
Most US states use a three-class system: Class 1 and 2 assist to 20 mph (Class 2 adds a throttle), and Class 3 assists to 28 mph. Some bikes advertise higher top speeds in an unlocked or “off-road” mode, which can put them outside e-bike rules on bike paths. Check your state and local rules before you buy a bike for a specific route.
Confirm support, parts and warranty
A cheap e-bike is expensive if you cannot get a replacement battery, charger or controller in two years. Prefer brands with a US presence and an official Amazon storefront, check the warranty terms on the motor and battery separately, and confirm who handles warranty claims for Amazon purchases.
Factor in assembly and shipping
Most e-bikes arrive 80 to 90 percent assembled in a large, heavy box. Budget either an hour with basic tools or a shop fee for a professional build and brake adjustment, and make sure someone can receive the delivery.
The models, briefly
Aventon Level 4 ADV
The newest generation of Aventon’s Level commuter line, sold in its ADV trim with step-over and step-through frames. Aventon has a large US dealer network, which matters for warranty work and tune-ups. It is the bike to watch if you want a polished daily commuter rather than the lowest price. We put it head to head with the Heybike Cityscape 2.0 in a separate comparison.
Good to know: premium commuters are less often deeply discounted than budget brands, so compare against the price history before you treat a small markdown as a deal.

Heybike Cityscape 2.0
A value commuter with a 1,000W peak motor, a 468Wh removable battery, a 24 mph listed top speed, 7 speeds and a front suspension fork, and it is listed as UL certified. It is an easy first e-bike for errands and commuting on a budget.
Good to know: Heybike sells several Cityscape 2.0 listings; make sure the one you buy matches the spec you expect.

Lectric XP4 750
Lectric’s folding XP line is one of the best-selling e-bike families in the US. The XP4 750 lists a 48V battery, hydraulic brakes, a TFT display, five assist modes, a throttle and a 28 mph top speed, in step-over and step-through frames. It suits RV owners, apartment dwellers and anyone who needs to fit a bike in a car.
Good to know: range figures depend on which battery option a listing includes; check the listing carefully.

Jasion EB7 2.0
A budget folding bike with 20 x 3.0 in tires, a 1,200W peak motor, a 480Wh battery and a listed 28 mph top speed. It is one of the cheaper ways into a folding e-bike from a brand with an Amazon storefront.
Good to know: budget bikes use mechanical brakes and simpler components than premium models; plan on a brake adjustment after the first few rides.

Heybike Mars 2.0
A folding fat-tire bike with 20 x 4 in tires, full suspension, a 624Wh removable battery and a 1,800W peak motor, with UL 2849 certification on the current listing. It is the pick for sand, snow and rough paths, and for heavier riders who want more cushion. Our fat-tire e-bike guide covers alternatives.
Good to know: its advertised top speed is above the Class 3 limit, so check how it is set up out of the box and what your local rules allow.

Aventon Ramblas ADV
Aventon’s mid-drive electric mountain bike on 29 in wheels, for riders who want trail capability from a brand with US service support. Our electric mountain bike guide compares it with other trail options.

Black Friday e-bike checklist
- Decide the type first: commuter, folder, fat tire, trail or cargo.
- Check rider height and weight limits against the frame size and payload rating.
- Compare battery capacity in Wh, not just volts or amp-hours.
- Confirm UL 2849 certification on the exact listing.
- Check the class, top speed and your local rules.
- Track the listing’s price history for a few weeks before buying.
- Look at what is included: fenders, rack, lights, lock, charger.
- Confirm the warranty terms and whether replacement batteries are sold.
- Budget for a helmet, a good lock and assembly or a shop tune.
- Check the return window and how returns of large boxes are handled.
Battery safety
Lithium-ion e-bike batteries are safe when they are certified and treated well. Use only the charger that came with the bike, charge on a hard surface away from exits and flammable items, do not charge overnight unattended, and stop using a battery that has been dropped hard, swollen or damaged. Store it indoors at moderate temperatures over winter, ideally at a partial charge.
FAQ
Are e-bikes cheaper on Black Friday?
Often, but not always. Many e-bike brands run promotions through November, and some “deals” are measured against inflated list prices. Check the exact listing’s price history before you buy.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving. Many retailers and e-bike brands start promotions earlier in November and continue through Cyber Monday.
Is it safe to buy an e-bike on Amazon?
It can be, if you buy from the brand’s official storefront or a listing sold by Amazon, choose a bike with UL 2849 certification, and confirm the warranty and parts support before ordering.
What battery size do I need on an e-bike?
For short commutes, around 400 to 500Wh is usually enough. For longer rides, hills, heavier riders or frequent throttle use, look for 600Wh or more. Real-world range is usually lower than the advertised maximum.
Should I buy last year’s e-bike model on sale?
It can be a good value if the price is clearly lower and parts and batteries are still available. Compare the specs with the current version so you know what you are giving up.
